OUR LEGISLATIVE MISSION 

The Texas Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) actively monitors, informs, and lobbies for veteran-related legislation through our Washington, D.C. office. We establish legislative priorities and advocate on behalf of veterans, ensuring that with the support of over 1.5 million members, our significant influence on Capitol Hill promotes the well-being of veterans and aligns with the VFW's Priority Goals.

OUR LEGISLATIVE MISSION 

The Texas Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) actively monitors, informs, and lobbies for veteran-related legislation through our Washington, D.C. office. We establish legislative priorities and advocate on behalf of veterans, ensuring that with the support of over 1.5 million members, our significant influence on Capitol Hill promotes the well-being of veterans and aligns with the VFW's Priority Goals.

  • To ensure that veterans' programws are fully funded, we advocate for:

    • Reform of dysfunctional budget process.

    • Authorization for the VA to receive reimbursements from TRICARE and Medicare.

    • Ensuring no veteran's benefits are reduced to fund another's.

  • We focus on timely access to earned benefits by:

    • Implementing comprehensive toxic exposure legislation.

    • Advocating for health care and benefits for all toxic-exposed veterans.

    • Streamlining the modernized appeals process for disability compensation.

  • Our efforts ensure successful transition by:

    • Enhancing oversight of transition assistance programs.

    • Expanding transition services for spouses and s ensuring parity in VA and DOD programs

    • Increasing funding for career training and entrepreneurship resources for veterans and military spouses.

  • We aim for access to high-quality health care without increased costs through:

    • Strengthening mental health and traumatic brain injury care.

    • Expanding research and treatment for health conditions related to toxic exposures.

    • Advocating for preventive health care without copayments.

  • We work to maintain a high standard of living for service members by:

    • Eliminating sexual assault and harassment in the military.

    • Ensuring safe, toxin-free military housing.

    • Supporting employment for military familymembers and eliminating food insecurity.

  • Our objectives include:

    • Preserving the all-volunteer force.

    • Expanding recovery missions to account for U.S. military personnel missing from all wars.

    • Ensuring full funding for the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA).

Join the VFW by meeting two requirements: honorable service in the U.S. Armed Forces and participation in operations on foreign soil or hostile waters. Eligibility can be verified through campaign medals, Hostile Fire Pay, or service in Korea. For family members of eligible veterans, the VFW Auxiliary provides a membership option.

COMBAT TESTED GAMING

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural gaming league, Combat Tested Gaming. Working alongside veteran-owned KC Crew, this landmark initiative provides a new platform for veterans to hone their gaming skills while building camaraderie with other members of the veteran community.
